Dr. Michael Tran

Dr. Michael Tran developed a deep fascination with eye care when he started volunteering at the Jules Stein Eye Institute during his undergraduate studies. He knew he wanted to pursue a career in optometry after observing firsthand how doctors made a difference in their patients' lives while providing exceptional care and compassion. He then earned his undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology and Physiology at UCLA in 2013.

Dr. Tran continued his studies at the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. During his final year of optometry school, he completed his externship training at the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, Alaska, the UECLA clinic in downtown Los Angeles, and the Wellish Eye Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated in 2017 with magna cum laude honors. Thereafter, he completed his residency training focused on primary eye care at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Long Beach.

His training includes fitting specialty contact lenses, examining pediatric patients with a focus on myopia control, and diagnosing and treating a range of ocular diseases. Dr. Tran is dedicated to achieving optimal visual outcomes for his patients by collaborating closely with them to create personalized treatment plans.

Dr. Tran is a native of Southern California. In his spare time, he loves hiking, playing tennis, and traveling. His favorite destinations so far have been Japan, Vietnam, and Mexico.
